Stan Weinstein uses the Mansfield RS indicator as another relative strength indicator.
The indicator measures the variation in the 52-week ratio of two stocks.
If the indicator is plotted on a weekly chart, the 52-period can be used. 200-period can be used when it is plotted on a daily chart.
There are three bullish signs on the indicator:
1 – Rising indicator
2 – Above zero line
3 – Above its moving average line
There are three bearish signs:
1 – Falling indicator
2 – Below zero line
3 – Below its moving average line
A rising indicator above 0 and its average line display the numerator’s outperformance. A falling indicator below the 0 line and its average line shows underperformance of the numerator instrument.
