How it works
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use outside tools. Definedge runs an MCP server with 61 tools. When you ask a question, the assistant decides which tools it needs, calls them, and explains what came back.
| Step | Who | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | You | Ask in plain language, in English, Hindi or Hinglish |
| 2 | AI app | Chooses the Definedge tools it needs |
| 3 | Definedge | Returns market data, Definedge studies, or your account data |
| 4 | AI app | Explains the result, with the figures and the names of the tools it used |
What stays where
- Your Definedge password and OTP are entered only on Definedge's sign-in page.
- Your AI app gets a permission token and the data returned by the tools you use in that chat.
- Orders are held by Definedge until you confirm the order summary. They then go to the exchange through the
same system as the Definedge app, and show
MCPin the remarks of your order book.
What the assistant cannot do
It sees only what Definedge's tools return. It cannot see your screen or your other apps. There is no live option chain or strike-wise open interest today; the options tools give one summary row per symbol.
