How to use System Builder?
At Definedge Securities, we have always thrived to make your trading journey easier with exceptional tools. System Builder is a unique feature provided in RZone and TradePoint PRO. System Builder is a unique tool that allows you to create your own trading system to sift through stocks and recognize potentially beneficial trading and investment opportunities.
In this article, we will discuss how you can create your own system from System Builder and run it on Rzone and TradePoint PRO. All you need is a RZone or TradePoint PRO subscription.
Steps to create your own System on RZone
Login to Zone web using your credentials and click on RZone from the top tab and follow the following steps.
Step 1 – Go to your RZone Dashboard
On your RZone dashboard, click on the ‘System Builder’ option from the left-side menu.
On the System Builder Dashboard, choose your preferred charting methods from the drop-down menu. For example, let us pick OHLC.
Once the charting method is selected, click on ‘Create System Builder’ option.
Step 2 – Name and Describe your System
In the ‘New System’ section for your chosen charting method, input the required details.
For our example, let’s name the system ‘50 Day SMA and RSI above 50.’ We’ll add a detailed description to specify ‘prices above 50 days Single Moving Average and RSI above 50’.
Step 3 – Choose an Indicator
You can add multiple indicators when creating a system. To select an indicator, click Add and a pop-up for selecting Indicator and Patterns will open. Add the conditions of your choice and fill in the required information.
For our example, we will choose Simple Moving Average (SMA) and add the respective details in input, period, and type of average.
Once all details are entered, click on ‘Add’ to add your indicator.
Similarly, you can add a second condition.
Let’s take a second condition of ‘RSI value above 50’ for our example. Add respective details like input, period, average type, and click ‘Add’.
Now, both the conditions are added to the system.
Step 4 – Add a Pattern
Click Add and go to the Pattern section of the pop-up. You can choose the Pattern of your choice from the drop-down menu and add it to your system.
For the current example, we will not choose any pattern.
Step 5 – Add Expression
Once your conditions and patterns are added, it’s time to add an expression for the respective condition.
For our example, we can add ‘1 and 2’ or ‘1 or 2’ for the conditions. We will choose ‘1 and 2’.
If you have added more conditions, you can add any possible sequence for your conditions.
Once the expression is added, click on Save.
That’s it. Your system has been added in the RZone system builder.
Steps to create your own System on TradePoint PRO
Just like RZone, you can easily add a system on your TradePoint PRO too by following the below given steps.
Step 1 – Select your chart to create a system
Login to your TradePoint Desktop using your credentials, click on the ‘BackTesting’ tab from the top bar and choose System Builder from the drop-down menu.
On the ’System Builder’ screen, the first portion displays the list of your saved systems, and the second portion helps you create a new system.
Select your chart type from the options given above and click on ‘Add’ to create your own system. For our example, let us consider ’OHLC’.
Step 2 – Name your system and add indicators of your choice
Name your system and click on the ‘Add’ button to add your preferred indicators or patterns/tools.
For our example, we will consider three conditions.
First, let us add a Single Moving Average indicator. You can add various conditions to each indicator as per your choice. We will add the condition- Price high above MA. Enter all the required details and click on OK to add the indicator.
Similarly add two more indicators –
- RSI with the condition – RSI above average line
- Single Moving Average with condition – Price low below MA
Step 3 – Add an expression and save your system
Once all the indicators are added, add your chosen expression for system.
Here, we will add the expression ‘1 and 2 and 3’ to apply all three indicators to the system.
Once you are satisfied with the system, click on ’OK’.
Your system will now be visible on the System List. Click on ’Save’ to save it in the System Builder.
After you click Save, a pop-up will appear.
Your custom system will be saved on your TradePoint Desktop System Builder.
How to find your custom system on TradePoint Desktop?
To find your custom system, go to Scanner, select EOD Scanner from the drop-down menu and then select the type of system you wish to select.
We will select OHLC Scanner for the above created system.
Select Market (NSE/BSE) and Scrip Group and under the Type drop-down, select User Defined System.
Under the Select Condition drop-down menu, you will find your custom systems to select from. Select your preferred system (In this case “MySystem”) and Scan.
Now you can easily view the results for the custom system created.
