At Definedge Securities, the security of your data is our top priority. To ensure the utmost protection for your Definedge Securities demat cum trading account, we have implemented a robust 2-factor authentication (2FA) system that requires OTP or AppCode verification for every login.
There are three ways in which you get OTP for login to Definedge Securities platforms:
1. OTP is sent to your registered email id
2. You can see App code in the Zone mobile app
3. External TOTP authentication
In our continuous efforts to enhance security, we are excited to introduce a new 2FA method: external TOTP authentication.
In this guide, we will help you enable external TOTP for your Definedge Securities trading cum demat account.
What is a TOTP?
Time-based One Time Password, abbreviated as external TOTP, is a method of generating temporary authentication codes for secure login to your account. Being time-based, TOTPs change frequently – often every 30 seconds.
External TOTP adds an extra layer of security to your account as part of our robust 2FA (two-factor authentication) framework.
Please note – If you do not wish to use a TOTP or login, you can use other 2FA methods like the App code generated on your Zone Mobile App or the OTP you receive via email or SMS.
Where will you receive TOTP?
To login to your account using TOTP, you will be required to download an authenticator app on your device. You can download any one of the following authenticator apps on your mobile phone or desktop through Play Store or App Store.
> Google Authenticator on Google Play Store and Apple App Store
> Microsoft Authenticator on Google Play Store and Apple App Store
> Authy on Google Play Store and Apple App Store
How to enable TOTP for your account?
You can easily enable TOTP from your MyAccount using the following steps.
Step 1 – Login to MyAccount with your credentials and from the left side menu, go to Account.
Step 2 – Click on ‘Security’ option on the upper-right corner of your screen.
Step 3 – On the Account Security page, click on ‘Enable External TOTP’
Step 4 – You will be required to enter the OTP received on your registered email ID for verification. Enter the OTP and click on Verify. A QR code will become visible.
Step 5 – Using your Authenticator app, scan this QR code to receive a 6-digit TOTP which needs to be entered. You can also click on ‘Can’t Scan? Copy the Key’ to view the 6-digit TOTP.
Step 6 – Copy & paste your TOTP and confirm your current password. Once done, click on ‘Enable’.
Your External TOTP will be enabled.
After this, every time you login to your Definedge Securities Demat account or any Definedge Securities platform – like MyAccount, Zone Web, Zone Mobile, OPSTRA, TradePoint, Insight, Radar, and more – you will receive a TOTP on the authenticator app.
How to Disable TOTP for your account?
The process of disabling TOTP disable TOTP for your Definedge Securities account is similar to the process mentioned above.
Step 1 – Just login to your MyAccount, go to ‘Account’ and click on ‘Security’.
Step 2 – Under ‘Security’, click on ‘Disable External TOTP’ and enter the OTP received on your registered email ID for verification and your TOTP will be disabled.
